In this level the student will begin to build the foundation needed to become a strong piano player. Notes, intervals, sharps and flats, staccato and legato, hand positions, rhythm and so much more are taught.

That curved line looks like a slur! As we continue to learn how to read the interval of a second, we learn what a tie means and how to play tied notes.

The next interval is called a third. Let’s get going and learn how to read a third on the staff.

Lesson 15 - Melodic and Harmonic Intervals
Now that we know how to play seconds and thirds, let’s make it a bit more interesting. Sometimes we play the notes separately and sometimes we play the noes simultaneously.

Lesson 16 - Hands Together
Now that we have learned our first two intervals, and the difference between melodic and harmonic intervals, lets play our hands at the same time!

Lesson 17 - Melodic 4ths
The train keeps rolling! It is time to learn a new interval called a fourth.

Lesson 18 - Harmonic 4ths
A bit more but still the same! We learn how to make the melodies much more interesting by adding harmonic 4ths in one hand while the other hand plays melodic intervals.

The last interval of level 1A! Our newest interval is called a 5th.
